Stop 3: The Raven Cafe

Located downtown Port Huron.

Personally I like the Rave Cafe, the ambience and the food, make it a great place to go. Its definitely a hot spot for college age as well as local business men and women. But really its for all ages. The building offers an upstairs that has either tables to sit at or couches to lounge in, or in the summer a small deck to enjoy the outside. The lower level has a bar or tables to enjoy your stay. Also in the summer, there are a few tables outside on the sidewalk to enjoy the weather and people watching.

The Raven serves a large variety of drinks including coffees, teas, and even alcohol. Its grown in popularity over the years. The food ranges from sandwiches to salads, among other specialities. On the weekends they do have live music, which I enjoy, as do a lot of folks.

One of my favorite servers there is Louis. Although I haven't seem him lately, so I'm not sure if he is still there or not. He has a great personnality (as you will come to see in my blogs, I'm drawn to those you can make me laugh as they work without being overly over the top). But if he is there, ask for him.

There are my compliments for The Raven.

But I do have a couple of complaints too. Lately, The Raven has been a little off of their service. It's been taking longer than usual to even get someone to wait on you and the food seems to be taking longer also.

I work downtown and get an hour lunch. The last 3 times I've been there its taken over 45 minutes to even get the food, forcing me to either be late or have to take it to go. There are new servers, some are good as the experienced ones are, and some are not. I've had the unfortunate plessure on having the latter more often. I've had to ask for same things mulitple times and had to wait a long time for them.

All in all, I really do enjoy the times I've been there and will go back because I like the food and the place itself. If you've never been there, I do suggest going, just don't be in a hurry, give yourself time because you will need it.

Stop 2: The Alley Room

Located on Quay Street, Downtown Port Huron.

The Alley Room is one of those places that I absolutely love. The atomosphere is fun and relaxing. It's like a little Royal Oak or Rochester in Port Huron. And that alone is an amazing accomplishment in this area.

First off, the wine choices are great. I'd say plenty of people agree with me on that one since there isn't a weekend that I don't see many without a wine glass in their hands. But for those who don't drink wine, there are many other choices of beer and liquors. I suggest having a Vanilla White Russian or a Bloody Mary. They are sooooo good! I love them both! The Alley Room also offers cheese and crackers to go with your wine. I suggest the Gouda Cheese. (my personal fav).

Also I love the bar's decor. It has the feel of an old movie or that of a different era. Its one of the cleanest places around and very comfortable. You can tell the owner takes pride in his establishment.

Tom, the owner of The Alley Room, has done an amazing job with this place. He's a great host, friendly and attentive. He has a great smile too. (Sorry Tom, I couldn't resist adding that). I truly hope to see The Alley Room thrive in the years to come.

So stop on by, have a glass. Talk to Tom, watch an old movie playing on the wall, or listen to the bands on open mic nites. Tell your friends and have a great time at The Alley Room, you will not regreat it!

Stop 1: The Dorsey House

The Dorsey House is located in Clyde Township, MI. On the corner of M-136 and Wildcat.

I love this establishment. Its casual yet not a sports bar restaurant either, unless you want it to be and then upstairs is your place to go. Personally I prefer to eat in the lounge and not the dining room, its more relaxed and more my style. Although if you want more formal than the dining room would be more apt to you.

The food is great no matter what you like. The pizza is amazing, especially their "Murphy's House Pizza w/o corned beef (ok so that's how I eat it). The special they had over the summer, "the backyard burger" was also so very yummy!

But I have to tell you, the food isn't the only reason why I really like the Dorsey House. Its the atmosphere too. The staff there are very nice and friendly. But I have to indulge here. I do have my favorite by far. I would like to introduce you the best waiter around...

...I want you to meet Anthony, Waiter Extraordinaire. He's like a superhero of restaurants. Anthony is a hell of a server with a great personality and a killer smile that just immediately makes you like him. Personally I think he's top notch; he's attentive and he knows his stuff. He brings so much fun to his job and to the tables he waits on. You can tell how hard he tries to make your experience at the Dorsey House perfect or at least memorable. You can't help but remember him and tell people about him. He keeps you coming back.

So I would like all those who read this to go to the Dorsey House and try their food. But mostly go there and ask for Anthony's section. You won't regret it! I have that much confidence in him.

On a personal note: Thank you ANTHONY! Keep up the GREAT work!
